Leaving Cert & fifth year students:
Below I have added in some sketchbooks as inspiration for creating your own. All of the following sketchbook pages were chosen for their use layout & presentation, how the artist worked from primary source objects (people, places, objects ) as well as imagination and experimentation. You will also see that the artist writes notes scattered around the sheets discussing their ideas, how & why they experimented etc. It is vital that you explain in words to the examiner WHY you did something in a certain way, why you experimented in a certain way or style, why did you choose those primary source objects (for your part A - still life) and how they connect to your chosen theme.
