Welcome back - Important info for 1st, 2nd, 3rd, 5th and 6th year students

Welcome back!

As we start a new term it is very important that we kick off organized and prepared.

Below I add a reminder for all year groups with what you need to have with you this week and going forward.

1st years - As you will be taking part in tasters up until October you do not need to get a art sketchpad or folder yet.  The teacher will supply paper for you in the meantime.
What you do need:

• Drawing pencils - 2B, 4B and 6B (can be found in supervalue and any art shops) do not get 2H, 4H or any pencils with a H on it and you are not allowed HB pencils either.  You need to have the correct drawing pencils 2B, 4B and 6B in order to learn how to draw correctly.
• A rubber
• Ruler
• A set of colouring pencils (no crayons or markers please)
• A mini scissors that fits into pencil case
• A pritstick that fits into pencil case

2nd years - Please bring in your art pad from 1st year and art folder.  You also need to bring in ALL art materials and equipment that you had last year ie: drawing pencils, rulers, scissors, rubber, colouring pencil sets, watercolour and paint sets, paint brushes etc.  

If you need a new art pad please get an A3 size art pad only (try to get hardback not spiral bound)

3rd Years: Please bring in your art pad from 2nd year and your art folder.  You also need to bring in ALL art materials and equipment that you had last year ie: drawing pencils, rulers, scissors, rubber, colouring pencil sets, watercolour and paint sets, paint brushes etc.  

If you need to get a new art pad please get an A3 size art pad only (get a hardback artpad not a spira bound one)

T.Y Art:  All art materials and equipment will be supplied.

If you are taking part in Junk Kouture this year please bring in your designs, ideas, inspirations and any material you have collected and gathered.  

5th Years:  You need an A3 size art pad and a folder (either a clear folder with handle or black folder)  You also need to bring in ALL art materials and equipment that you had last year ie: drawing pencils, rulers, scissors, rubber, colouring pencil sets, watercolour and paint sets, paint brushes etc.  

Art history:  You need two hardback copies, one is for note taking and one is for essays.  You need to bring a folder also for handouts.  Please bring your art history book with you to ALL art classes also.  You will have one art class a week and it is vital that you have all of the above with you.  You will not be allowed to leave the class to go to your locker to get your books. 

Leaving Cert. Art:  Please bring your art folder as well as your A3 art pad from 5th year.  You need to bring in all art materials from last year.

• A3 art pad
• A folder with handle
• Correct Drawing pencils 2B, 4B, 6B and 8B.
• Rubber
• Ruler
• Large pencil case just for art for equipment
• A set of colouring pencils
• Watercolour set
• Paint brushes
• Acrylic paint set 
• Charcoal
• Oil Pastel set 

Art History: Please bring in your hardback notes and essay copy for 5th year.  Bring in your folder where you kept any essays from last year also.

You will need two hardback A4 copies - one for note taking and one for essays in LC.  You should also have your art history book to all art classes with you.  Also invest in a large folder for handouts received this year as there will be a LOT!

All year groups should be prepared and organized for all art classes this week.
