Junior Cert. Drawing exams -
These will take place on Wed 7th May in the ART ROOM
Drawing sheets must not exceed A2 size. Use a separate sheet for each category – a total of two
sheets.
1. STILL LIFE DRAWING - This take place on 7th May 2014 in the ART ROOM
9:30 a.m. – 10:30 a.m.
Choose one item from either category A or B below and name it on your drawing sheet:
Category A – Natural Forms Category
animal or fish bone/s
root/s of plants or shrubs/trees
a house plant
dead insect/s
a bulb or rhizome
an avocado
a cupcake or scone
dried fruit
a tuft of grass
a rotting branch
Category B - Man Made Forms
a cap or hat
muddy outdoor boot/s
buttons and/or zips
a hair accessory
glasses and/or case
my bike repair kit
craftworking tool(s) of your choice
a nail manicure set
contents of my lunchbox
Ordinary Level
Make a drawing of the complete form or a drawing of a part of it. The part may be enlarged in order
to explore its features.
Higher Level
Make a drawing of the complete form and a drawing of a part of it. The part may be enlarged in
order to explore its features.
2. PORTRAIT DRAWING - LIFE SKETCHING EXAM -
Takes place on 7th May in Art room also. - 11:00 a.m. – 12:30 p.m.
The live model should be seated upright on a chair.
The model’s feet should be approximately 25cm apart.
The model’s left hand should be resting on left thigh, palm facing down.
The model’s right hand should be resting on left hand, palm facing down.
The model should be looking to the right.
The model’s facial features must be visible – long hair should be tied back.
Ordinary Level and Higher Level
You are required to make a drawing of the live model showing the complete pose.
or
You are required to make a drawing of the live model showing the head and shoulders. All facial
features visible to you must be recorded in your drawing.
MARKING -
This paper carries 100 marks, as follows:
STILL LIFE DRAWING EXAM -
Category A (Natural Forms)

Category B (Man-Made Forms)
Observation 25 marks
Interpretation 25 marks
Total 50 marks
LIFE SKETCHING DRAWING EXAM-
Category C (The Human Form)
Observation 25 marks
Interpretation 25 marks
